CRUISE ITINERARY
After Merry Maiden's major restoration is completed, we will be sailing throughout Puget Sound to check out all the systems, and replacing things as needed. We may go as far north as the top of Vancouver Island.
In the late summer we hope to make a quick trip south to San Franscisco for a few weeks and then down to Los Angeles and San Diego. Here we will do final repairs and put onboard major supplies.
Then a gradual cruise south through Mexico and onto Costa Rica. This will take about four months.
From Costa Rica we will head for the Galapagos and if we can secure a permit, we will spend two months cruising the many beautiful and exotic islands of the Galapagos searching for giant tortoises.
From the Galapagos south to Easter Island. This passage may take two to three weeks. Easter Island is fabulous and we will want to explore all of the statues for at least 3 weeks.
Next leg takes us to remarkable Pitcairn Island where we will spend time with the decendants of the great Mutiny on the Bounty fame. This remote island has no safe harbor so we might have to leave on very short notice.
Next leg takes us through the Tuamotus and on to the Marquesas where the islands are all lush green with steep terrain and splendid harbors. The Marquesas will be a fine area to spend four months.
A one week sail to the west takes us to the coral atolls of the Tuamotus. These huge lagoons will need to be explored thoroughly, for at least two or three months.
Now we land in Papeete for a refreshing break and some great island life for a few months. Occasionally we will go over to Moorea for a trade wind sail and a few nights' retreat from the city lights of Papeete.
Of course, we will need to spend some time cruising out to Bora Bora and Huahine. These spectacular islands are rugged, like the Marquesas, but they are also blessed with coral lagoons that provide beautiful secure harbors with sandy bottom, countless fish and crystal clear water.
